Southern: Wetlands, Climate & Coexistence

Where we work: Southern landscapes and wetlands of Timor-Leste

Focus: Wetland protection • Climate resilience • Human–wildlife coexistence • Nature-based carbon

Southern Timor-Leste’s wetlands are vital ecosystems that store carbon, reduce flood risk, and support biodiversity and local livelihoods. As climate impacts intensify, protecting these landscapes is essential for both people and nature.

We strengthen wetland management, promote safe human–crocodile coexistence, and advance nature-based carbon solutions that support community resilience. By protecting and restoring these ecosystems, we help safeguard climate stability while improving safety and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Our vision: Healthy wetlands that strengthen climate resilience, protect communities, and support sustainable livelihoods in a changing climate.
