Where we work: Western highland watersheds shared across the island of Timor
Focus: Water security • Forest restoration • Cross-border collaboration
Forested watersheds are the source of life across Timor. They provide clean water for families, sustain agriculture, and support biodiversity from mountain ridges to coastal reefs. In the western highlands, these critical landscapes extend across national boundaries — making shared stewardship essential.
We work with governments, communities, and technical partners on both sides of the island to strengthen science-based watershed management and restore degraded forests. In partnership with Indonesian counterparts, we are advancing joint planning, building local capacity, improving monitoring systems, and protecting priority transboundary watersheds such as the Talau Loes and Mota Masin system.
By strengthening cooperation and long-term landscape management, we are helping secure reliable freshwater, healthier ecosystems, and more resilient livelihoods.
Our vision: Restored forested watersheds that secure clean water, resilient livelihoods, and shared stewardship across the island.
